Ani discovered his passion for photography in 10th grade at the High School of Art & Design in NYC. Born in Puerto Rico, his family moved to the South Bronx and East Harlem in 1959, where an art teacher noticed his passion for drawing and painting. At A&D, as it was called, he entered the darkroom for the first time and new this was for him. He still continues to extend the boundaries of the photographic image, working with both traditional film and digital imaging technology, sometimes combining the two.
